Acoustic/Electric Guitar Course
The acoustic/electric guitar course will focus more on contemporary popular music in various genres. The early stages start with the basics of left hand fretting technique and strumming with a plectrum (pick) while learning simple songs with 2-4 easy chords using basic strumming patterns. At this point in the lessons, the student learns how to hold a steady tempo and a consistent rhythm while building a vocabulary of chords. Once the student is confident with tempo and rhythm, the student is introduced to reading guitar tablature notation; playing single note melody lines using alternate picking technique. For the acoustic guitarist, the lessons eventually progress to solo playing using finger style technique, while the electric guitar player will progress to more rock style playing technique focusing on utilising scales and arpeggios to learn basic improvisation.
